Don't Put Your Rosary Down Yet!

The Rosary Celebration Committee has been receiving many questions about Arizona Rosary Celebration 2020 and be assured, it will take place. The Executive Committee is working to make this Celebration to honor Our Lady, Undoer of Knots one to remember. You are probably wondering - “How can these people think this event is going to happen”? With Mary’s help, we are going to make it happen.

Our committee meetings in both Tucson and Phoenix are being held in a virtual mode until it is safe to meet in groups. The co-chairs in Tucson and Phoenix will continue to post information on the web site, email, or other media.

In the midst of the changes that we anticipate, we do have a number of events that we know will take place, so for your top-level planning keep these points in mind.

Tucson: The Rosary celebration will be live-streamed (You Tube) on Saturday, October 17, 2020, beginning at 10:00 a.m. with Bishop Weisenburger presiding and will include a recorded message from guest speaker Auxiliary Bishop Rodriguez of the Archdiocese of Denver. The guest speaker's presentation will be followed by exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, recitation of the Rosary, and Benediction. Music will be presented by Carlos Zapién, Diocesan and Cathedral Director of Liturgical Music for the Diocese of Tucson.

Phoenix: the celebration will be live-streamed (You Tube) on Sunday, October 18, 2020, starting at 2:00 p.m. with Bishop Olmsted presiding and will include the recorded message from Bishop Rodriguez. As in Tucson, the format of the event will include remarks from Bishop Olmsted, the guest speaker's message, exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, recitation of the Rosary, and Benediction. Music will be presented by the beautiful young voices from Villa de Marie Academy

Both programs will be shorter due to the absence of the blessing processions, and overall participation at the venues will be limited to the minimum number of participants required to perform the Liturgy. Strict COVID-19 precautions will be exercised. The Lord has truly provided us an opportunity to greatly expand the participation of Catholics throughout Arizona via the use of personal media resources. Many of our Church’s faithful will be able to participate from afar when they could not participate in the past except by viewing recordings after the fact.

We need to advertise this great opportunity to pray the rosary publicly for our nation and our world in this period of great tribulation. There are almost 2 million Catholics in Arizona and we have the chance to unite them all under our Mother’s protection on this one October weekend. So even if your ministry participation has been cut short by the restrictions this year we still need you to help us bring the word to others. We will not let COVID-19 keep us from celebrating our 45th year of praying the rosary together.

We have had many questions about the annual program book. As we will not have a means to distribute it physically and advertising revenues will not support the cost of printing, we have decided to design the book it so it can be posted on the website, viewed from there, or downloaded and printed if desired. Funds will still be needed to support production costs for the event and we will recognize our patrons in the program book, or through other means. As we prepare for the 2020 Arizona Rosary Celebration, please contact friends, relatives, businesses etc. for donations to defray the cost of this event.

The planning committee has been working hard to try to make this an event one to be remembered. We don’t know what the future will bring, but with the help of Mary, Undoer of Knots, we will rise to the occasion to honor Jesus through his Mother in this Rosary Celebration. Please pray for a successful event.
